Lichtenfels pilots lurk in midfield of the bundesliga
Ten of 19 rounds of the season in the national gliding league have been completed. The lichtenfels team is currently lurking in the midfield in 11th place overall. In the overall ranking, LSG bayreuth leads ahead of LSR aalen and LSV burgdorf. The U25 juniors of the aeroclub are surprisingly on top of the table after a round win ahead of FG oerlinghausen and SFZ konigsdorf.
The tenth round brought usable flying conditions again after the weak results before, even if the weather situation was very complicated and hardly predictable for the pilots. With the hot temperatures the risk of thunderstorms was very high. Already early in the day there were first showers in the low mountains. Together with the strong easterly wind only a narrow, well flyable strip from the fichtelgebirge to the edge of the spessart remained.
The best line with good outings was found by the junior team with philipp lauer from lichtenfels, tobias pachowsky from FC eichstatt and max dorsch from aeroclub bamberg, who used the weekend in lichtenfels as a preparation training for the upcoming junior world championship in szeged (hungary). Lauer was the fastest on the vereinsls4b with an average speed of 114,10 km/h. For the round victory dominik biesenecker (LS8) with 81,22 km/h on sunday and patric riebner (LS8) with 42,29 km/h on saturday brought in two more important flights in the junior ranking of the club.
Jan kretzschmar (LS 8) and gerd peter lauer (LS 8neo) tried their luck on a line further south, which turned out to be much worse. Both got into such a tight spot between karlstadt and schweinfurt that they were just able to avoid a premature landing. The average speed for the league was still around 100 km/h, which was enough for 5th place in the league in the end. In the remaining nine rounds, however, a lot of effort is still needed to maintain 11th place.
